Giving Back to the Northeast Ohio Community

American Cancer Society
Great Lakes furnished and maintained a condo for GLC employees who worked on an out of town project.  At its completion, GLC donated the furniture to the American Cancer Society.

Cleveland Rowing Society
Great Lakes Construction recently partnered with The Cleveland Rowing Society to enhance its boat launching facility in the Flats. The nonprofit group helps provide access to the water for rowing teams across Northeast Ohio, and promotes environmental stewardship along the Cuyahoga River. The Great Lakes team provided premium material, labor, and equipment to repair the parking lot.

Harvest for Hunger
At our annual Great Lakes Holiday party, we collected 200 pounds of food and cash donations. The Great Lakes family donated all the food items and monetary gift to Harvest for Hunger.

Little Red School House
Great Lakes was contacted to help dress up the historic, two-room “Little Red School House” in Berea, Ohio. The building was restored and has been used by the Berea Fine Arts Club and the Berea Jaycees for meetings and community projects.
Great Lakes helped keep visitors safe. We supplied the labor and equipment to place soil on the west side of the building, filled in groundhog holes and regraded.
Great Lakes supplied the labor and equipment to spread two loads of limestone gravel in a parking lot.

Math Immersion Workshop – CSU
Great Lakes donated 25 Algebra textbooks to the Cleveland Transfer Connection Program and the Pre-Engineering Summer 2011 Mathematics Workshop. The program is a cooperative between the Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community-Metro Campus to facilitate academic success and degree completion, and is for students who want to pursue a career in one of the Engineering disciplines.

United Way – Coats for Kids
The Great Lakes family donated to Coats for Kids this winter season. In addition, Great Lakes held a holiday party and had a 50/50 raffle. Half the raffle winnings went to the raffle winner, and the other half was given to Coats for Kids. The employee who won donated his winnings to the Coats for Kids charity.
