IR-77 NB Ramp Safety Project

To accommodate high traffic volume during peak hours, the goal of ODOT Project 233-22 is to widen the I-77 North on-ramp and off-ramp at Rockside Road, located in Independence, OH. Considering the I-77 North on-ramp travels over Rockside Road, the existing bridge substructure and superstructure were widened by approximately 15 feet. The completed bridge widening work consisted of pier drilled shafts, abutment H-piling, extending the piers/abutments substructure concrete, adding bearings and a fascia beam, and extending the deck/parapet wall concrete superstructure. The ongoing roadway widening work of both ramps consists of existing pavement removal, subgrade cement stabilization, underdrain/sewer installation, concrete/asphalt pavement placement, and traffic signal/lighting utility work. ODOT Project 233-22 is on schedule to be successfully completed prior to the contract completion date of October 15, 2023.
