At the ODOT Main Avenue Connector Project, Great Lakes Construction transformed a small sidewalk area located in Downtown Cleveland’s Warehouse District into Lighthouse Park, an urban streetscape honoring Cleveland’s first lighthouse. Located at the corner of West Ninth Street and Main Avenue, the original cornerstone of the 1830-built lighthouse was utilized as a key component to the park’s aesthetic. Great Lakes’ scope of work included reinforced concrete drilled shafts, placing reinforced concrete slabs, footers, cheek walls, walkways and curbs, setting structural steel, and installing a wooden deck and bench swings. The construction of Lighthouse Park also included subcontractors completing: electrical power supply, fabrication/installation of a custom Light Bar, structural steel painting, and landscaping. This Project was completed in August 2022, followed by a Lighthouse Park ribbon cutting that was acknowledged on the cover of the Plain Dealer and several Cleveland News Stations.
