In the Allegheny National Forest high above the Kinzua dam, is FirstEnergy’s 90 acre pumped storage pond. We were contracted to perform the cleaning of years of sediment, installation of new drainage and monitoring devices, removal and replacement of the hydraulic asphalt floor, EPDM liner, and sealing of the sidewalls. Working with a plant outage in conjunction with the remoteness of this project site provided many obstacles that had to be overcome to complete this project.
