SAFETY COORDINATOR

JOB PURPOSE
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring job site safety, including assisting with training, documentation, audits, and reporting. The Safety Coordinator will assist in safety management and coordination by researching, planning, developing, and implementing programs and procedures necessary to meet the compliance and safety needs of The Great Lakes Construction Co.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs policies, procedures, and action plans, including employee training
- Ensures EHS inspections/audits are completed as necessary to comply with regulations, laws, or reporting requirements.
- Submits EHS compliance reports and recommendations to the Safety Director
- Conduct orientation for all new employees in safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- Contributes to coordinating safety training for all employees
- Assists supervisors in the investigation of all incidents and reports ensuring proper reporting
- Leads and/or assists in safety meetings with an emphasis on employee participation
- Manages and maintains all environmental, health, and safety-related documents such as, but not limited to: OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, training, inspection records, and safety training logs
- Assists in the processing of worker’s compensation claims and maintains necessary records of claims
- Identifies and recommends policies and procedures to reduce risk
- Performs EHS audits of safe work practices and recommends corrective action
- Works with a focus on advancing safety
- Assists the Director of Risk and Compliance with all aspects of the Environmental, Safety & Health program for the facility, including continuous improvement of safety & health programs that are proactive, data-based, and prioritized according to risk assessments and hazard reduction potential

FIELD MECHANIC
Location: Hinckley, OH
JOB PURPOSE
The responsibility of a Field Mechanic is to maintain and service heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, tractor-trailers, etc. This position works primarily on construction job sites and travels to locations daily with an occasional overnight stay required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, vehicles, and other construction equipment
- Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as needed
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly and efficiently, analytical ability to find solutions to difficult technical problems

CARPENTER JOURNEYMAN
Location: Northeast, OH
SUMMARY
Great Lakes is seeking experienced Carpenters, including Foreman and Journeymen, to join their team for heavy highway/civil bridge projects in Northeast Ohio. Applicants should have prior experience with formwork for bridges and/or experience working on water and wastewater treatment facilities.

- Read and interpret drawings/plans to understand the job
- Plans and selects specific sizes/types of lumber and other pertinent materials for the job
- Prepares layout
- Braces formwork with timbers, tie rods, anchor bolts, and other fasteners for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.

The Bridge Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. This position will provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. SURVEY PARTY CHIEF

JOB PURPOSE
The Survey Party Chief role is responsible for preliminary, location, and construction surveys; specifically, layout of structures, including bridges, retaining walls, and noise walls.

- Responsible for leading a one-man survey crew in required project layout staking operations
- Accurately reads and interprets engineering plans

PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager is responsible for all administrative functions of the project from vendor scope reviews/buyout to ensuring receipt of final payment/project acceptance. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work on complex projects. The Project Manager (PM) is the lead administrative person on the project. The PM is primarily responsible for project start-up, scheduling, billing, contract interpretation, contract claims, subcontractor dispute resolution, submittals, extra work pricing, cost control, and financial reporting. The PM is also the lead planner on the project conducting regular meetings to review past, present, and future costs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee the development of project schedule ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within the scope and within budget
- Supervise project buyout with the estimator
- Perform and oversee submittals and the RFI process
- Lead planning meetings & attend progress meetings
- Create agenda for planning and progress meetings
- Execute the cost to complete reports
- Review proposed subcontractor and vendor payments
- Analyze subcontractor billings
- Maintain logs as needed - Change orders, field orders, submittal, RFI's, change conditions, delays, etc.
- Track material used on job
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Project Management to effectively manage projects
- Work with Estimating to develop accurate cost proposals and estimated cost reports for submission to owner
- Coordinate payments with lower tier vendors and subcontractors
- Mentor and train Assistant Project Managers
- Participation in a professional trade group

BRIDGE SUPERINTENDENT
Location: Northeast, OH
ABOUT THE JOB
The Bridge Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. This position will provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. While there are specific responsibilities and expectations described below, it is essential that the Bridge Superintendent be organized, possess good judgment skills, communicate effectively, and have technical knowledge of concrete and steel bridge structures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, refine and update the project schedule
- Complete knowledge and understanding of contract drawings/specifications
- Understand project costs and manage company assets
- Create and manage project documentation
- Coordinate project operations including subcontractors and material vendors
- Knowledge of all regulations to ensure all aspects of the project are compliant
- Provide leadership and maintain effective working relationships with the on-site staff
- Enforce Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Core values
- Develop daily crew lists and manage field activities to ensure project completion date is met
- Lead weekly foreman meeting
- Develop two-week forecast to proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions

This is a full-time position, and the work week for employees is normally considered 40 hours Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time-sensitive issues as they arise. However, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a non-smoking office. Work conditions are primarily indoors; however, fieldwork and travel are a significant portion of the role. Overnight stays can be expected depending on the project and/or business demands.
